Heidi Health is building an AI Care Partner platform that supports clinicians by automating administrative work and strengthening human connection in healthcare. The platform has processed 175 million patient visits, supports 2.8 million patient sessions weekly across 190+ countries in 110 languages and 200+ specialties, and has grown ARR from $1M to $50M in two years. The company recently raised $340M (Series C led by Blackbird plus $240M growth investment from General Catalyst).
As an Implementation Engineer, you will own the stability and scale of customer accounts and build the account health infrastructure that enables proactive rather than reactive engineering. You report to the NA Manager of Solutions and work closely with GTM teams.
Key responsibilities include:
**Scoping and Feasibility**: Join presales discovery on integration-heavy deals to assess customer systems, APIs and data constraints. Size work (effort, dependencies, risks, assumptions) to feed statements of work. Classify requests as reuse, configuration, custom build, core product change or roadmap item. Write technical designs that FDEs, product and customer IT can act on without rework.
**Custom Integration Build**: Build integrations between Heidi and customer systems (EHRs, identity providers, data warehouses, scheduling tools). Work with HL7v2, FHIR, REST APIs, SFTP and webhooks. Set up agents and agentic workflows. Own technical testing, support customer UAT and run technical go-live. Monitor post-launch and iterate with customer integration teams.
**Building for Reuse**: Design each build as a configurable component. Maintain the team's shared library of connectors, patterns and runbooks. Document builds so other engineers can deploy, support or extend without you. Identify repeat asks for productization.
**Technical Partnership**: Act as technical lead with customer IT, security and integration teams. Provide Compliance with technical input for security questionnaires and privacy reviews. Plan work around customer governance gates (clinical safety, privacy approval, change control).
**Handover and Scope Control**: Review SOWs, discovery notes, architecture and acceptance criteria before build begins. Route material scope changes through CSM, SE and AE before committing work or dates.
You will build integrations yourself, write and ship code, make feasibility calls that sales and presales rely on, and keep boundaries clean between customer-specific work and core product changes.
**Requirements**:
- 3+ years building integrations in healthcare or enterprise SaaS
- Hands-on HL7v2 and FHIR experience, plus REST APIs and auth (OAuth, SAML/OIDC)
- Production code in Python or TypeScript
- Experience with EHRs such as Epic, Oracle Health or athenahealth
- Track record of turning one-off builds into reusable components
- Confidence to push back on sales commitments and propose alternatives
