Backcountry, a leading online retailer of outdoor gear and adventure lifestyle products (operating four brands: Backcountry, Competitive Cyclist, MotoSport, and SteepandCheap), is seeking an HR Generalist to serve as the on-site HR presence for its Utah Fulfillment Center. This is a full-scope people operations role supporting a high-volume hourly workforce in a fast-paced, lean HR team environment. You will own the complete employee lifecycle and serve as a key HR partner to fulfillment center leadership. Day-to-day responsibilities include: **Operational HR Partnership**: Partner with FC leaders on staffing, retention, and culture decisions. Help build accountability through shared ownership of people metrics and leadership cross-training. **Talent Acquisition & Onboarding**: Lead local onboarding efforts to ensure a welcoming and consistent new hire experience. **Employee Experience & Retention**: Champion the full employee journey from onboarding through development and recognition. Analyze exit interview trends and employee feedback to identify retention and engagement opportunities. Collaborate on setting and tracking retention goals. **Training & Development**: Design and deliver supervisor training programs. Upskill leaders through instructor-led sessions and on-the-job coaching. **HR Operations & Compliance**: Maintain accurate employee records and compliance documentation. Partner with Safety and Operations on OSHA initiatives and safety culture. Handle employee relations matters, conduct investigations, and recommend appropriate actions. Support DEI and engagement initiatives locally. **Data & Reporting**: Create monthly HR metrics dashboards for site leadership. Track turnover, hiring performance, engagement scores, and compliance indicators. Success at 6–12 months means steady turnover, a supervisory team that continues developing people management skills, consistent and compliant ER handling, and HR recognized as an operational partner rather than back-office function. The company emphasizes adventure-rooted culture, employee recognition, wellbeing, and outdoor perks. You'll work directly with senior leadership and have access to executive mentorship and AI-first skill-building opportunities. **Requirements:** - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field - 2–4 years of HR Generalist or related experience, ideally in fulfillment, logistics, or manufacturing - Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR fundamentals - Comfortable supporting both hourly and salaried employees in high-paced, frontline environments - Proactive communicator who builds trust and influences across all levels - Demonstrated success with recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and retention - Experience with HRIS systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) - Bonus: Familiarity with OSHA or safety regulations in operational settings
