Salary: USD 250,000 - 300,000 / annual
IEX is seeking a Head of SRE, Cross-Asset to lead and scale the Site Reliability Engineering organization as the company expands its Equities business and launches Options trading. This is a deeply technical leadership role responsible for ensuring reliability and operational excellence across production trading environments while defining a scalable SRE model across multiple asset classes.
In this role, you will lead and develop the SRE organization spanning Equities and Options, defining and driving strategy for reliability, observability, automation, incident management, capacity planning, and performance optimization. You'll partner closely with Core Development, Network Engineering, Market Operations, Platform Engineering, and business/regulatory stakeholders to operate highly reliable, performance-sensitive trading systems. You'll develop tooling including CLI tools supporting production systems, mentor engineers and technical leads, establish common standards and best practices across teams, and remain technically engaged to help troubleshoot complex issues spanning applications, infrastructure, hardware, and networks.
The ideal candidate brings proven experience building, leading, and scaling global SRE, Production Engineering, or Infrastructure teams responsible for highly available, business-critical production systems. You should have a strong track record of driving technical and organizational change, deep understanding of Linux, networking, automation, observability, and production operations, and experience with performance-sensitive or highly available systems. Direct exchange or trading platform experience is a plus but not required. You should be intellectually curious, willing to challenge the status quo, and capable of developing strong technical leaders.
The technical environment includes Linux, Java, C++, Python, Rust, Bash, Ansible, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, and Azure, with predominantly on-premises production infrastructure. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll remain technically engaged while scaling the organization.
