Gusto is seeking a seasoned financial services operator and regulated-domain leader to head Risk & Money Services, a critical function within the company's Financial Services organization. This role reports directly to the Head of Financial Services and owns three interconnected practices: Risk Operations (fraud detection, account takeover prevention, payment-risk decisioning, collections, and BSA/AML compliance); Dispute Operations (Reg E dispute processing across banking and money-movement products); and Money Services & Banking (operational infrastructure for Gusto Wallet, Cash Advance, and consumer financial products).
You will lead this organization through a senior leadership team, each carrying full ownership for their function's outcomes. The role is a builder's opportunity—Risk & Money Services is being formalized as a defined function within a new domain. You will set SLAs, design controls, build the metrics framework, establish governance, and create the playbook that enables Gusto to move money with confidence and scale.
Key responsibilities include owning the end-to-end function (fraud and payment risk decisioning, BSA/AML compliance, Reg E dispute operations, collections, and the operational backbone of money products); leading a multi-disciplinary regulated financial services organization through strong leaders; standing up Risk & Money Services as a defined operational function with governance, metrics, SLAs, and reporting infrastructure; and building the operating muscle (controls documentation, audit readiness, workforce management, escalation frameworks) required for a regulated function.
