Legion Health is building autonomous medical care powered by AI, starting with psychiatry. The company has achieved regulatory authorization to let AI prescribe psychiatric medications and has delivered tens of thousands of patient visits in just two years while maintaining flat operational costs and industry-leading patient NPS and retention. Legion is backed by Y Combinator and leading venture capital firms.
As Head of Product, you will own the consumer-facing product experience across Legion's full patient journey: discovery, onboarding, intake, insurance/payment clarity, scheduling, provider matching, visit preparation, visit completion, follow-up, care-plan adherence, medication refills, renewals, messaging, support, retention, and reactivation. This is a high-ownership individual contributor role with founder-level visibility and a direct path to managing a large product organization.
You will translate complex clinical, operational, regulatory, and AI workflows into simple consumer experiences that reduce patient anxiety and increase clarity. You will build durable product systems (patient timeline, care status, tasking, reminders, notifications, escalation paths, asynchronous messaging) rather than one-off features. You will partner closely with engineering to scope and ship technically sound products across web, mobile, backend workflows, APIs, third-party integrations, and AI-assisted workflows.
Key responsibilities include: defining and owning product metrics for activation, intake completion, scheduling conversion, first-visit completion, time to care, repeat-visit rate, renewal completion, retention, NPS/CSAT, and support burden; using PostHog, SQL, and analytics tools to identify friction and prioritize bets; designing and running structured experiments; writing crisp product specs, user stories, and launch plans; prototyping quickly using Figma, v0, Lovable, and similar tools; shipping production PRs regularly for instrumentation, internal tools, workflow logic, and UI improvements; partnering with clinical and operations teams to understand real patient workflows and edge cases; collaborating with compliance and clinical leadership on AI-enabled product safeguards; improving Legion's AI product layer; creating feedback loops from patient conversations, support tickets, and analytics; and raising the product craft bar across the organization.
You will be successful by making Legion's patient experience feel consumer-grade (fast, clear, calm, trustworthy), improving the core retention loop, turning messy workflows into scalable product systems, shipping AI-enabled experiences that feel useful and safe, building a measurement system that makes the patient journey legible, reducing patient confusion through product improvements, helping Legion move faster without becoming sloppy, earning trust from engineering and clinical/ops teams, and creating emotionally intelligent and technically sophisticated experiences.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of product management, product engineering, technical founder, or equivalent experience with meaningful ownership of consumer-facing web or mobile products
- Strong consumer product instincts with a track record of shipping products that people actually use, understand, trust, and return to
- Technical fluency across software product development: ability to reason through APIs, data models, event instrumentation, backend workflows, frontend states, AI workflows, latency, failure modes, and engineering tradeoffs
- Hands-on technical curiosity: ability to navigate API docs, logs, event payloads, session recordings, agent traces, and codebases
- Experience partnering deeply with engineering and design from problem definition through launch
- Strong analytical ability with comfort using SQL, product analytics tools (PostHog, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Looker, Hex, Mode), and defining useful metrics
- Track record improving engagement, retention, activation, conversion, habit formation, or lifecycle metrics in consumer products
- High product taste and UX judgment with attention to copy, information architecture, interaction design, empty states, error states, mobile responsiveness, and emotional texture
- AI-native working style: proficiency with Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Replit, Lovable, v0, ChatGPT, Claude, Figma AI, or similar tools
- Comfort working on AI-enabled products with understanding of prompt behavior, user expectations, evaluation, quality thresholds, fallback paths, human review, auditability, and safety
- Healthcare experience is a strong plus but not required; experience in other trust-sensitive consumer categories (fintech, insurance, family/kids, identity, privacy, marketplaces, wellness, regulated consumer products) is valuable
- Startup operating mode: high agency, low ego, high urgency, strong writing, strong judgment, strong follow-through
- Ability to work cross-functionally with clinical, operations, support, compliance, legal, growth, data, design, engineering, and founders
- Excellent writing skills for strategy docs, product specs, launch plans, decision memos, and patient-facing copy
- Bias toward building and shipping
- Bonus: experience at companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, Character.AI, Replit, Cursor, Perplexity, Notion, Duolingo, Oura, WHOOP, Chime, Monarch Money, or other breakout consumer products with high craft and fast iteration
