Payward Services, the enterprise infrastructure platform behind Kraken, is seeking a Head of Operations, Platform Product to lead operational execution for their B2B2C regulated business. This is a high-impact role combining strategic oversight with hands-on operational leadership.
You will own platform product operations and launch readiness for B2B2C offerings including KYC/KYB, lending, and unified APIs. You'll gate product go-lives against regulatory and operational requirements, building scalable operations that enable fast shipping in regulated markets. This requires deep product fluency—understanding flows, identifying failure points, and knowing what it takes to launch in regulated jurisdictions.
Day-to-day responsibilities include running US regulated entities as their functional operating lead, managing licensing maintenance, operational risk and incident management, outsourcing coordination, and audit/examination readiness. You'll drive cross-functional execution on roadmap milestones, compliance deliverables, and infrastructure work across Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and external partners.
You'll lead the operational work behind US licensing workstreams—state money transmitter licenses (NMLS filings) and state lending licenses—translating regulatory requirements into governance processes, controls, and documentation. You'll serve as the operational counterpart to regulators and examiners, handling information requests, supervisory queries, and incident notifications.
The ideal candidate has 8–12 years of experience with roots in strategy consulting (MBB, Big 4, or boutique) and proven operational execution in-house. You've scaled inside a fintech, bank, or crypto firm in roles like special projects, chief of staff, operations strategy, or business operations. You're a genuine jack-of-all-trades comfortable diving into product mechanics with engineers, understand the US regulated financial landscape, and have hands-on experience with compliance programs including KYC/KYB. You excel at running complex cross-functional programs without formal authority and distinguish between controls that protect the business and friction-adding procedures.
