Mercury is a fast-growing fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. The company is building a premium consumer-facing brand and seeking a Head of Media to shape and deliver the brand team's investment strategy and media approach.
In this role, you will report to the Head of Brand and own Mercury's media investment strategy across paid channels, with oversight of agency relationships, key partners, and measurement. You will be responsible for amplifying launches and company narrative while building a differentiated approach that challenges competitors.
Key responsibilities include:
• Own Mercury's media investment strategy—build and execute the plan for a budget doubling year over year, deciding where, when, and how to invest across channels to deliver near-term results while creating an approach that scales with spend.
• Differentiate how Mercury shows up in market—develop a media and distribution approach that stands apart from standard playbooks and lets the company outmaneuver competitors who outspend it through unconventional channels, formats, partnerships, and creative media buying.
• Lead agency and media partners—set the agenda, hold a high bar on their work, and source, evaluate, and onboard new partners as needs evolve.
• Build the measurement system—establish a rigorous framework for attribution, incrementality, and optimization that supports spend at scale and leverage learnings to drive investment decisions.
• Connect media to the broader marketing ecosystem—integrate paid media with brand, performance, community, content, lifecycle, and product marketing so media amplifies what the rest of the team creates.
Requirements:
• 15+ years building and running a media investment strategy on a fast-growing budget, with a proven track record delivering and measuring short-term wins while putting systems in place that last.
• Deep expertise as a market leader, not a best-practices follower—find unique, high-impact approaches others haven't thought of, with examples of differentiated media work.
• Systems thinking—see media as one part of a larger marketing engine and design programs that make everything else the company does travel further and more efficiently.
• Rigorous measurement expertise—fluent in attribution, incrementality testing, and media mix modeling; able to turn analysis into confident decisions and clear stories for leadership.
• Proven track record of agency management—experience managing agencies and vendors with the ability to assess their work and hold them accountable.
