Finch is a post-Series A legal tech company building infrastructure to make justice more accessible. The company has grown 10x in just over a year, raised $20M Series A, and is backed by Sequoia, Redpoint, and founders/CEOs from DoorDash, Ironclad, and Digits. They're automating pre-litigation work for personal injury firms, combining expert operators with purpose-built AI. You will be Finch's first functional Finance leader, reporting directly to CEO Viraj. This is a ground-up build of the finance function at a company moving at startup velocity. Key responsibilities: - Own invoicing, banking, and cash/investment optimization end-to-end, eliminating founder sign-off on routine finance ops - Build and own debt and credit strategy, evaluating financing structures as the company scales toward and through the next growth phase - Partner with CEO and exec team on company-wide forecasting as a shared strategic exercise - Sit in strategic and spend conversations across the company, pushing back on decisions that don't hold up financially - Set up regulatory guardrails and financial controls appropriate to the stage without slowing the business - Build systems and reporting infrastructure that enable fast-moving decision-making - Help define what the finance function looks like as the company scales beyond this hire You'll work directly with founders and the board. The role will evolve as the company grows. REQUIREMENTS: Must-haves: - Strategic finance operator mindset—you shape decisions in the room, not just report on them afterward - Debt and credit fluency, or demonstrated speed to build it quickly (non-negotiable through next growth phase) - Direct ownership of invoicing, banking, and cash/investment optimization at a prior company, with maturity to run independently - Track record of stepping up: senior manager/director-level FP&A or controllership at scale, now ready to own a function solo; OR 2–3 years as M&A banker with early promotion track record - Growth mindset, not guardrails mindset—you build systems that enable speed, default is "yes" Nice-to-haves: - Prior finance leadership at post-Series B or similarly-staged startup - Direct experience partnering with hands-on CEO or board on forecasting - Legal tech, B2B SaaS, or vertical software finance background - Comfort being evaluated in real time (live case component in interview process)
