project44 is building p44LSP.ai, a dedicated AI-native division serving the logistics service provider (LSP) market—freight forwarders, brokers, and 3PLs. The company has a strong shipper business growing 20% YoY and is now launching this new division with startup-like speed backed by enterprise infrastructure: 259K carriers, billions of shipment outcomes, production AI agents, and access to project44's data graph and carrier network.
As Head of Engineering, you will set the technical direction for this division from the ground up, build and lead a high-performance engineering team across the US and EU, and own delivery against a fast-moving product roadmap. This is a hands-on role where you ship and lead simultaneously.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting and executing the technical vision: microservices architecture, agentic AI systems, data pipelines, and customer-facing product surfaces
- Building and leading a distributed engineering team across US and EU locations, with hiring, development, and retention accountability
- Owning the agentic AI engineering roadmap—how agents are built, reasoned with, debugged, and improved in production
- Partnering with data science to design data-driven product capabilities for LSP decision intelligence
- Collaborating with Forward Deployed Engineers to translate customer feedback into product roadmap priorities
- Contributing to product strategy, hiring, and go-to-market planning at the leadership level
- Ensuring customer success in platform adoption
You bring 12+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of building and shipping large-scale products, plus 8–10 years of engineering leadership managing high-performance teams. You have hands-on expertise with microservices architecture, agentic AI systems, and data science. You can design and build products end-to-end from concept to production. Global team management and logistics/supply chain technology experience are strong pluses.
You lead hands-on without micromanaging, make decisions with incomplete information and own outcomes, attract strong engineers, and operate with urgency without creating chaos. Some travel to Bangalore and customer sites is expected. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
