Lendable is a UK fintech unicorn (800+ employees, profitable since 2017, backed by Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs) rebuilding consumer finance products—loans, credit cards, and car finance—with technology that gets money to customers in minutes instead of days. The company is expanding into the UK and US markets and undergoing a major rebrand to Zable with a significant step-change in D2C marketing investment. You will lead Direct Marketing end-to-end as a high-impact channel, owning strategy, budget, creative, sends, logistics, offers, and reporting. Direct mail (addressed) is the core today, with scope to extend into other formats. You'll work with dedicated analysts and the creative team to decide who gets mailed, with what offer, and when—all anchored to CAC and LTV targets. This is a rare standalone DM role with substantial budget and autonomy at a profitable business with deep product range and analytical capabilities. Key responsibilities include: - Own the direct marketing strategy and channel P&L, setting volume, response, and payback targets anchored to LTV. - Source and procure prospect data from bureaus and brokers; combine with first-party data. - Direct analysts building response and propensity models that drive targeting and offer decisions. - Plan and execute the campaign calendar from data selection through mail delivery. - Select, negotiate, and manage print and postal suppliers on cost, quality, and turnaround. - Brief creative teams on packs, copy, and offers; manage compliance sign-off. - Build reporting that ties sends to funnel, revenue, and LTV. - Hire and develop the team as the channel scales; leverage AI to maximize team impact. - Partner with data, product, risk, finance, and creative teams to unlock targeting and offer optimization. Requirements: - 5+ years in direct marketing, including 2–3 years owning an acquisition DM programme end-to-end (strategy, budget, data, production, results). - Proven track record mailing cold prospects at meaningful scale; ability to discuss volumes, budgets, response rates, and CPAs. - Commercial ownership: build business cases, forecast volumes and returns, judge results on marginal CAC basis. - Experience procuring data from suppliers (list selection, screening, enrichment, cost negotiation). - Deep knowledge of DM supply chain: print, lettershop, Royal Mail products (Advertising Mail, Mailmark, partially addressed, door drops), and suppression (MPS, goneaways, deceased). - Strong analytical judgment: design test cells and holdouts, read results critically, understand response and propensity modeling. - Experience managing suppliers: tendering, negotiating, setting SLAs, keeping partners to schedule. - Ability to run multi-drop campaign calendars across products, segments, creative, compliance, production, and mail dates. - Experience leading analysts and collaborating closely with creative teams. - Clear communicator who earns trust of finance, risk, compliance, and data teams. - Demonstrable use of AI in workflow. Desirable: - Acquisition mail experience in financial services (credit cards, loans, prescreened/pre-approved offers, risk-based targeting). - Experience standing up data pipelines or enrichment stacks (first-party + third-party/bureau data). - Experience building a channel or function from scratch. - Background hiring and developing analytics or design teams.
