Etched is building custom hardware for frontier AI inference, co-designing chips, racks, software, and manufacturing to optimize throughput and latency. The company is Series A-backed by top-tier investors and staffed by leading engineers. You will lead Etched's datacenter delivery function, building the company's turnkey compute capability from site sourcing and power procurement through datacenter construction, rack installation, commissioning, and operational handover. This is a hands-on leadership role accountable for delivering fully operational facilities ready for customer deployment or internal use. Key responsibilities include: - Translating product milestones and production ramps into power forecasts, capacity plans, site selection criteria, and phased delivery schedules. - Building a sourcing pipeline for sites, power, and equipment by developing relationships across GPU cloud providers, datacenter brokers, developers, landlords, utilities, and suppliers. - Owning site selection, diligence, and preconstruction validation, including power availability assessment, buildout requirements, budgeting, permitting, and long-lead procurement. - Challenging design assumptions to identify faster, more cost-effective build approaches while maintaining safety, reliability, and hardware requirements. - Owning end-to-end datacenter and lab delivery: construction, rack installation, facility and system commissioning, and handover to operations. Accountable for schedule, budget, safety, and quality. - Building repeatable turnkey delivery processes including testing, documentation, operator training, and coordination with Legal and Finance for facility and real estate transfer. - Building and leading an exceptional delivery team, coaching existing staff, holding developers and contractors accountable, and providing leadership with clear visibility into risks and tradeoffs. Requirements (Must-have): - Proven track record delivering large-scale datacenters or similarly complex, power-intensive facilities from site selection through commissioning and operational handover. - Established network across the datacenter ecosystem with ability to convert relationships into actionable site, power, and equipment opportunities. - Strong technical judgment across power, cooling, networking, and construction; ability to evaluate designs, equipment alternatives, and realistic delivery timelines. - Experience leading teams and managing construction budgets, contractors, and delivery partners against demanding schedules. - Ability to understand hardware roadmaps deeply enough to anticipate infrastructure needs and adapt plans as requirements change. - Hands-on, resourceful approach: challenge assumptions, find practical alternatives, drive execution across engineering, real estate, construction, and operations. Nice-to-have: - Experience delivering high-density AI/HPC infrastructure, including liquid-cooled, rack-scale deployments. - Experience developing turnkey infrastructure projects combining operational systems with underlying real estate or leases. - Background building hardware bring-up, validation, or production test labs.
