Watershed is an enterprise sustainability platform used by companies like Airbnb, Carlyle Group, FedEx, Visa, and Dr. Martens to manage climate and ESG data, produce audit-ready metrics for regulatory reporting (including CSRD), and drive real decarbonization.
As Head of Content, you will own two interconnected content streams: (1) demand programs that convert educational content into qualified pipeline, including search and AEO content, webinars, ebooks, and interactive tools; and (2) brand and editorial work that shapes market perception of corporate sustainability and decarbonization, including thought leadership, brand campaigns, video series, and short-form social content.
You will develop and execute Watershed's editorial strategy in collaboration with the marketing team, setting goals, finalizing the editorial calendar, executing content, and reporting on performance. You'll surface compelling stories from within the company, the science team, customer base, and beyond, then bring them to life across diverse formats and platforms. Key responsibilities include developing strategic brand initiatives and campaigns, creating interactive content and data stories that make complex scientific topics accessible, growing social presence and newsletter subscriber base, managing the webinar program end-to-end, and owning content's contribution to pipeline targets.
You will be hands-on developing content yourself while leading a content marketer and two contractors. You'll build AI workflows and standards that enable a small team to achieve more without compromising quality. Example projects include storyhunting within the company and customer base, writing essays that name shifts in sustainability leadership and repurposing them across webinars and video, planning quarterly AEO content strategies, and reviewing performance data to inform next month's plans.
The role is based in New York or San Francisco offices (higher end of compensation range) or remote in the US (compensation based on location). Employees in office locations are expected to be in-office 4 days per week.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years in content, editorial, or brand roles, with at least 3 years in B2B or technical content
- Portfolio demonstrating range: opinion and narrative work alongside demand programs
- At least one idea, framework, or campaign you originated that gained traction beyond your own channels (in market, press, or sales pitch)
- Track record of growing a corporate or executive audience on LinkedIn, via newsletter, podcast, or other media subscription
- Experience managing and developing writers or marketers, with interest in expanding this responsibility
- Eagerness to experiment with new formats, angles, and collaborations
