Babylist Health is seeking a Head of Commercial Payer Market Development to lead the expansion of insurance coverage for its core DME breast pump business and new service lines including insurance-covered classes, lactation, and doula care. This role owns the full lifecycle of payer relationships—from initial negotiation and contract closure with national players like Aetna and UnitedHealthcare to regional plans, through operational launch and ongoing partnership development. You will develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to gain direct in-network access across major national and local payers. Key responsibilities include negotiating and closing contracts, building strategic relationships with program leads and thought leaders within payers (maternal health, maternity investment), and partnering with the internal payer operations team to ensure smooth onboarding and patient ordering. The role extends beyond transactional contracting to developing deeper partnerships that drive adoption of Babylist's registry, courses, and preferred provider status. You will also maintain a deep understanding of the insurance payer landscape, including industry trends, competitive offerings, and market dynamics, and provide strategic recommendations for new products and services to add to the Babylist Health roadmap with corresponding insurance access plans. Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of healthcare and insurance industry experience in business development, partnerships, or payer contracting roles, ideally in a startup environment. You should have a proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with large national payers, deep knowledge of what motivates payers to form partnerships, and the ability to develop compelling payer value propositions. Experience with insurance access strategies, the DME space, or working at a commercial insurance payer is highly valued. You excel at relationship-building with key decision makers, thrive in collaborative environments, and demonstrate resilience in problem-solving and contract negotiation.
