Vi is seeking a Head of Applied AI Engineering to lead technical execution and delivery of agentic AI applications for healthcare, pharma, and wellness enterprises. This leadership role sits at the intersection of Engineering, Product, and Commercial Growth, overseeing all AI deployment squads across verticals and clients.
You will be responsible for the entire deployment lifecycle—from pre-sales technical discovery through long-term commercial expansion. This includes ensuring predictive, precise, and personalized agents are successfully integrated into complex production environments, enabling patient, care team, and operational next-best-action workflows.
Key responsibilities include building and mentoring a high-performing Applied AI Engineering organization; owning technical success of agentic AI deployments with HIPAA compliance, scalability, and deep integration with client EHR/EMR, CRM, and claims data systems; serving as primary technical executive for strategic enterprise accounts; partnering with Sales and Growth on technical discovery and ROI underwriting; collaborating with Platform Engineering and Product to turn field patterns into reusable components; and overseeing robust data ingestion pipelines, real-time agent infrastructure, and output guardrails.
Required qualifications: 10+ years hands-on engineering and delivery leadership in high-stakes environments with proven end-to-end ownership; strong backend and data foundation (APIs, real-time services, scalable data pipelines); technical degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering; expertise in real-time and distributed systems (event-driven architectures, WebSockets, high-throughput production); client-facing and team leadership experience leading enterprise engagements and high-talent teams; business development skills for land-and-expand motions; and significant startup experience as a founding member or early-stage impact player (sub-150 employees).
