Loft Orbital is redefining satellite design and deployment by combining standardized space vehicles, mission-specific payload integration, and end-to-end mission execution. As a Harness Design Engineer, you will design the electrical harnesses that connect spacecraft systems, avionics, payloads, and test equipment. This role bridges electrical systems, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and integration & test teams to transform electrical interfaces into reliable, production-ready hardware.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design electrical harnesses for spacecraft, payloads, and test systems
- Translate schematics, ICDs, pinouts, and electrical interfaces into harness designs
- Create harness schematics and 3D harness assemblies using Creo
- Develop manufacturing drawings, bills of material, and harness documentation
- Support harness fabrication, inspection, integration, testing, and troubleshooting
- Contribute to harness libraries, design standards, and continuous improvement initiatives
This is positioned as an excellent opportunity for an earlier-career candidate with a strong electrical engineering foundation seeking to develop deep expertise in spacecraft harness design. You will work across multiple engineering disciplines and gain hands-on experience in a fast-growing aerospace company with proven flight heritage (30+ missions flown).
Loft operates offices in San Francisco, Golden (Colorado), and Toulouse, with cross-office travel opportunities to collaborate across locations.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-haves:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering, circuits, electronics, and electrical interfaces
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, pinouts, and interface documentation
- Strong attention to detail and interest in precise, hands-on engineering work
- Ability to learn new engineering tools and collaborate across electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, or other 3D CAD systems
- Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, or connectivity data
- Familiarity with connectors, wires, cables, shielding, grounding, strain relief, or EMI/EMC
- Hands-on experience with electronics, PCBs, soldering, crimping, electrical test equipment, or hardware integration
- Coursework or project experience in embedded systems, RF, signal integrity, power electronics, or high-speed digital design
