With five satellites on orbit and a backlog exceeding $1 billion in commercial contracts, the company is rapidly scaling its engineering operations from its 153,000 sq. ft. Northern California headquarters.
You will join the test and integration engineering team as a Hardware/Production Test Software Engineer, responsible for designing and implementing the software infrastructure that validates Astranis satellites from component-level testing through flight operations. Your core responsibilities include:
• Design high-level software architecture supporting vehicle integration and test operations across the satellite development lifecycle
• Develop automated testing software at both component and integrated system levels
• Write drivers and tools for ground support equipment and test instruments
• Implement ground control and telemetry software for satellite operations
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to refine specifications and validate critical flight components
• Support all development phases from proposal through successful test and flight deployment
• Contribute to team growth through recruiting, interviewing, and hiring efforts
You will work hands-on with test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers, reading schematics and datasheets to troubleshoot hardware-software integration issues. This role requires strong embedded systems fundamentals, proficiency in Python or similar high-level languages, and practical experience with Linux, version control, and circuit debugging.
The ideal candidate has 2–5+ years in embedded systems or hardware development/testing, 3+ years with Python, and 1+ years each with Linux and version control systems. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent background is required. Experience with web frameworks and databases is a plus.
