Salary: USD 157,000 - 182,000 / annual

Muon Space, a LEO satellite constellation provider founded in 2021, seeks a Hardware Test Engineer II to join the Testbeds & EGSE team. This team designs and builds Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) testbeds and electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) that enable satellite assembly, integration, and testing across all Muon missions. In this role, you will lead the design of future testbed infrastructure and next-generation EGSE while remaining hands-on in building and bringing up testbeds that missions depend on daily. You'll work at the intersection of electrical, embedded software, mechanical, and industrial controls disciplines, collaborating directly with the electrical missions team to translate flight hardware designs into functional testbed parallels. Key responsibilities include: architecting HITL testbed infrastructure and EGSE systems; designing hardware (electrical, mechanical, integrated) for production use; reading and working from schematics, block diagrams, and production drawings; debugging hardware and software interface issues to root cause; maintaining testbed documentation and architecture diagrams; coordinating with supply chain, production, and facilities teams; and guiding junior engineers and technicians on scalable testbed designs. You bring 5+ years of hands-on experience with complex electromechanical systems, including 2+ years in test, testbed, or test-infrastructure development. Your background is in electrical engineering, embedded software, mechanical engineering, or industrial controls. You have proven experience designing hardware that others build and use, strong debugging skills with standard test equipment, scripting ability (Python, Bash), and understanding of electronics fundamentals and communication interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet). A B.S. in engineering or equivalent hands-on experience and comfort in Linux environments are required. Nice-to-have skills include HITL testbed or lab automation experience, Altium or harness design tools, SolidWorks for rack/fixture design, industrial automation or rack-based electronics expertise, and aerospace or high-reliability industry background. The role requires 5 days/week onsite at the San Jose facility.
