Base Power Company is rebuilding America's electrical grid through distributed battery systems. Following the successful launch of Base Core—a 39.2 kWh home battery now in volume production at Base Factory 1 in Austin—the company is initiating a new major hardware program for large-scale infrastructure systems. This role owns that program end-to-end, from first prototype through volume production.
You will be the single point of accountability for program schedule and critical path. Responsibilities include: building and executing the development plan through engineering, validation, and industrialization phases; driving design maturity down to part-level detail; coordinating tier 1-3 component sourcing and vendor qualification; managing tooling capacity and supply chain execution; owning bill-of-materials cost and defending targets; leading production line bring-up, throughput optimization, and yield improvement; and ensuring leadership receives early visibility into risks with recovery options pre-defined.
The ideal candidate has personally shipped a physical product from prototype to high-volume production (thousands+ units), with hands-on experience in manufacturing and supply chain management including cost, tooling, quality, and capacity planning. You must be technical enough to read schematics and mechanical drawings, arbitrate engineering trade-offs with credibility, and understand hardware validation testing. Experience in high-volume consumer electronics, automotive, EV, aerospace, power electronics, battery systems, data center hardware, or grid infrastructure is strongly preferred. You have a bias toward factory floor collaboration over status meetings and thrive in a fast-moving startup environment.
Base is a 100% in-person team in Austin. The company recently closed a $1 billion Series D at a $13 billion valuation and is scaling rapidly. This role shapes a new product program from inception, backed by significant capital and a proven hardware team.
