Neuralink is seeking a Hardware/Software Co-Design Engineer to join the Brain Interfaces SoC Department, which delivers chip architecture and silicon implementation for neural recording and stimulation systems-on-chip (SoC) for high-bandwidth brain-machine interface applications.
You will be responsible for micro-architecture and register-transfer level (RTL) implementation of digital IPs and systems, with a focus on high-throughput, low-power digital signal processors (DSP) and general-purpose hardware accelerators. Key responsibilities include:
• Micro-architecture design and RTL implementation of low-power digital signal processors, hardware accelerators, graphics processing units, and radio/serial link MAC/PHY interfaces
• Design and optimization of hardware/software interfaces in collaboration with firmware engineers
• Application-specific architecture optimization including complex system modeling for energy and performance benchmarks, workload analysis, energy/performance profiling, and design trade-off analysis
• Collaboration on silicon bring-up tests with verification engineers
Required qualifications include a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; expertise in SystemVerilog, C/C++, and Python; experience designing embedded software in C or Rust; experience with emulation models and test environments; and hands-on experience with complex digital systems from architecture through RTL using industry-standard tools. Digital signal processing pipeline experience from algorithm to RTL is essential.
Preferred qualifications include architecture optimization with process technology customization, verification and physical design experience with complex digital systems, SoC testing and debugging, functional modeling with SystemVerilog/SystemC, tool flow automation, processor ISA design, and compiler back-end experience.
This is a full-time position with equity compensation (RSUs) in addition to base salary. The role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge brain-computer interface technology with a world-class team.
