Oura is seeking a Hardware Reliability Engineer to lead reliability planning and execution for its award-winning wearable products. The role involves designing and executing comprehensive reliability testing programs for consumer electronics and wearables, including mechanical, environmental, and electrical testing. You'll coordinate testing activities with contract manufacturers and external labs, develop and refine test methodologies tailored to evolving wearable technologies, and perform Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to identify risks early in product development. Key responsibilities include supporting failure analysis and root cause investigations across design, quality, and manufacturing teams; building test-to-field correlations to ensure lab methods predict real-world performance; analyzing test and field data to drive data-informed design decisions; and maintaining detailed documentation for traceability and repeatability. You'll partner closely with hardware, firmware, test engineering, and manufacturing teams to integrate reliability considerations throughout the product development lifecycle. The role requires 5+ years of hands-on experience in hardware reliability, validation, or test engineering within consumer electronics, wearables, or small electromechanical systems. You should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, familiarity with industry reliability standards, and the ability to communicate complex technical results to cross-functional stakeholders. Experience with wearable devices, contract manufacturers, DFMEA methodologies, and relevant engineering degrees is preferred. The position is based in San Francisco with up to 15% travel to manufacturing locations and Finland.
