Canary Technologies is the leading agentic AI platform for hotel and guest management, powering digital infrastructure for 20,000+ hotels across 125+ countries. Major hospitality brands including Marriott International, Four Seasons, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts rely on Canary to increase revenue, improve operations, and elevate guest experience. The company has raised nearly $200M and was recognized as a 2024-2025 Deloitte Technology Fast 500 company and Inc. 5000 fastest-growing company. In this role, you will own Canary's self check-in kiosk end-to-end, from initial specification through deployment in the field. You will be responsible for the complete product specification that design consultants and factories build to, reviewing each design iteration, identifying errors, and rejecting designs that do not meet standards. In year one, you will perform the hardware review work yourself, as there is currently no other hardware staff. As the function grows, you will build and hire the hardware team. Key responsibilities include: - Owning the self check-in kiosk product from specification to field deployment - Creating and maintaining product specifications for design consultants and factories - Conducting design reviews and quality control on all consultant and factory designs - Integrating unattended payment terminals into the kiosk, including terminal selection, key injection (DUKPT / P2PE), installation within PCI PTS limits, and gateway/PSP certification - Building the fulfillment pipeline from factory to hotel, including freight, customs, duty management, and 3PL vs. in-house warehouse decisions - Designing pre-shipment staging processes (imaging, key injection, kitting, serial numbers) to ensure kiosks arrive hotel-ready - Coordinating last-mile delivery against installation dates - Managing spare parts inventory and field failure return processes - Building and leading the hardware team as the function scales REQUIREMENTS: - Must have taken one hardware product from initial specification to field deployment at a small company, owning the entire product lifecycle (not just one component) - Must have designed and built custom hardware, not simply integrated off-the-shelf terminals (e.g., not just placing an Elo touchscreen in a standard enclosure) - Must have performed substantial hands-on hardware work personally within the last six months, not solely through delegation - Must have managed outside design consultants and/or factories, including experience rejecting designs that were incorrect - Must possess sufficient knowledge of industrial, mechanical, and electrical design to identify errors in consultant or factory work (CAD production skills not required) - Must live in New York City or be willing to relocate - Bonus: Experience integrating unattended payment terminals (Ingenico Self series, Verifone UX/P400, PAX IM30, ID TECH VP series), key injection (DUKPT/P2PE at certified facilities or via remote key injection), PCI PTS-compliant enclosure installation, and gateway/PSP certification - Bonus: Experience establishing factory-to-customer logistics including freight, customs, duty management, 3PL vs. in-house warehouse decisions, pre-shipment staging, last-mile delivery coordination, and spare parts/returns management
