OpenAI's Security team is seeking a Hardware Platform Security Architect to own hardware platform security across the organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Silicon Design, DV, Firmware, kernel, compiler, and infrastructure teams to architect and deploy secure silicon, hardware, and systems at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Co-architect secure silicon with internal silicon design teams and external partners (foundries, test facilities) to meet end-to-end system security requirements, including boot measurements and GPU confidential computation.
- Co-architect secure hardware platforms by working with vendors and cross-functional teams to design systems that balance performance and security needs.
- Architect and deploy systems leveraging TPM2, Secure Boot, Nitro Enclaves, Intel SGX, AMD-SEV, and other trusted hardware technologies.
- Drive innovation by engaging with internal and external partners to align hardware innovations with OpenAI's trusted computing and cryptographic requirements.
- Own the full lifecycle of hardware security solutions from design through production deployment.
You should have 10+ years of industry experience in hardware security or hardware-software co-design, with proven expertise deploying secure hardware systems at scale. Strong coding skills in Rust and/or C/C++ are essential, along with Python proficiency. You'll need the ability to collaborate across teams, architect complex solutions, and debug production systems. An ownership-driven mindset with focus on end-to-end problem solving is critical.
Nice-to-have qualifications include an advanced degree in Computer Architecture, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, and familiarity with HPC, low-precision computing, and SIMD architectures.
