Arista Networks is seeking a Hardware NPI (New Product Introduction) / Debug Engineer for a hybrid role based in George Town, Penang, Malaysia. This position bridges design engineering and manufacturing, focusing on delivering early prototypes of high-performance networking hardware to large data center customers.
You will own end-to-end prototype builds in partnership with Hardware, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering teams, rapidly maturing designs and manufacturing processes to yield field-trial-ready units. The role involves leading complex systems debug and root-cause analysis, establishing technical foundations for future senior engineering roles. You will drive Design for Excellence (DFM, DFT, DFQ, DFR) by actively reviewing schematics and layouts, translating real-world NPI findings into more robust product generations.
Arista's product portfolio spans compact 1RU switches to massive modular chassis, integrating high-density PCBs, advanced interconnects, high-performance ASICs, and sophisticated thermal management. You will work with intricate optical and flyover cable assemblies, requiring exceptional technical acumen for next-generation networking hardware complexity.
Key responsibilities include: leading prototype builds with cross-functional teams; influencing product design through DFx reviews; conducting systems-level debugging and technical mastery; driving continuous improvement through collaboration with internal Engineering and Platform Design teams; and mentoring Contract Manufacturing (CM) partners to uphold production and quality standards.
This role offers a fast track to understanding core products in AI data center switching fabric and the processes necessary to fabricate, manufacture, and test these systems—a tremendous hands-on opportunity to grow into hardware development, manufacturing, test, and/or product engineering functions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BSEE degree required; MSEE degree strongly desired; solid foundation in electrical engineering
- 4 to 8 years of experience in Hardware, NPI, Sustaining, and/or Test Engineering within Networking, AI, GPU, or Computing industries
- Expertise in system-level debugging, root cause analysis, and proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
- Knowledge of industry manufacturing standards (IPC, JEDEC) and experience with complex Fab structures (VIPPO, backdrill) and electro/mechanical systems
- Must be passport ready and able to travel to CM sites within Asia and USA
- Deep ability to interpret schematics, board layout files, mechanical drawings, and datasheets
- Ability to read command-line logs and diagnostics independently
- Self-starting mindset with ability to drive improvements in efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills with remote and HQ engineers; English fluency required; Malay and/or Vietnamese fluency desired
