Salary: USD 140,000 - 260,000 / annual
Archer is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise, advancing sustainable air mobility. As a Hardware Integration Engineer, you will own the physical build and bring-up of subscale aircraft platforms, including mounting and wiring flight controllers, companion computers, radios, and sensor payloads. You'll design and fabricate wiring harnesses, connectors, and power distribution systems for onboard electronics, then validate integrated hardware end-to-end on the bench and on the platform while coordinating with test and program teams.
Your responsibilities include troubleshooting EMI, power, and signal-integrity issues across sensor and compute interfaces, collaborating with perception, navigation, and test engineers to ensure hardware meets system requirements, and maintaining comprehensive build documentation, wiring diagrams, and configuration records for fielded systems. You'll work hands-on in a lab/hangar environment with hardware bring-up and debug activities.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related field (or equivalent experience), hands-on experience integrating hardware on small aircraft or robotic platforms, and experience with sensor and compute interfaces such as MIPI, USB, Ethernet, and CAN. You should have working knowledge of wiring harness design, connectorization, cable routing, EMI mitigation, and power management for embedded systems.
Bonus qualifications include experience with flight controllers (PX4, ArduPilot), familiarity with companion computers like NVIDIA Jetson, background in small aircraft or aerospace hardware integration, and experience supporting test or field operations. This is an onsite role based in San Jose; visa sponsorship is not available.
