Helsing is a defense AI company focused on protecting democracies through technological leadership and ethical AI development. We are seeking an experienced electronics engineer to join our Barcelona office and work on cutting-edge legged robotics systems.
In this role, you will design and develop complex electronic systems from concept through manufacturing and validation. Your day-to-day responsibilities include defining system and component-level specifications, designing schematics for complex electronics, performing PCB layout design, executing validation and test plans, contributing to system-level architecture decisions, and troubleshooting electronics and electrical systems across hardware and firmware interfaces.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment, owning projects from initial concept through validation. This is an individual contributor role where you will apply deep technical expertise in electronics design while collaborating with AI specialists, engineers, and program managers on problems with significant real-world impact.
Required qualifications include at least 5 years of hands-on experience designing electronics (schematics and PCB design), a BSc in electronics (MSc preferred), fluency in English, and the ability to work independently on complex projects. Nice-to-have skills include familiarity with robotics or robotic actuation systems, startup/R&D environment experience, Formula Student or similar project experience, BLDC controller design experience, high-level integration systems experience, and firmware development background.
Helsing operates in a domain with highly unusual technical requirements where robustness, safety, and ethical considerations are paramount. You will face unique engineering challenges at the state of the art in areas like reinforcement learning, distributed systems, and deployment infrastructure.
