Graphcore is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer to design and validate circuit solutions for AI processor systems and platforms. In this role, you will transform system requirements into schematics, layout constraints, and testable hardware that powers production systems and test boards used across development, validation, and customer enablement. You will own designs through the complete lifecycle: from initial schematic capture through layout support, bring-up, validation, and production transfer. Working alongside silicon architects, firmware engineers, software teams, and PCB CAD specialists, you will define validation plans, run lab campaigns, debug prototypes, and interpret results collaboratively. Your work directly shapes whether designs meet performance, margin, and reliability targets before volume production. The Hardware Engineering team operates with minimal silos—problems are handled close to the lab, and engineers take end-to-end ownership. Decisions are grounded in evidence: measurements, design reviews, margin data, and technical rigor. You will be expected to speak up, take responsibility, and help the team move with confidence. This role suits someone who enjoys connecting board design, bring-up, validation, and production readiness into a single coherent ownership model. Few roles offer such direct visibility across the entire hardware lifecycle. Graphcore is part of the SoftBank Group and is developing hardware, software, and systems infrastructure for next-generation AI compute. The company brings together AI research specialists, silicon designers, software engineers, and systems architects to solve complex problems in AI infrastructure. REQUIREMENTS: • Strong digital circuit design and validation skills, including DCDC regulators, power delivery, resets, clocks, and control interfaces • Experience developing processor-based systems and working with interfaces such as Ethernet, PCIe, DDR, USB, QSPI, and JTAG • Practical lab depth in bring-up, debug, margin testing, and validation using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and signal generators • Ability to script tests and analyse results using Linux, Python, Bash, and Excel • Understanding of server architecture, such as BMC, NIC, and SSD; SERDES experience is a plus • Ownership mindset, clear communication, and confidence to challenge, decide, and work across disciplines The company values transferable skills and diverse experiences; if you meet most essential criteria, you are encouraged to apply.
