Convex is a backend platform designed to empower developers to build fast, reliable, and dynamic applications without needing a dedicated backend team. The company provides a full-stack app platform with database, compute, and backend abstractions that enable developers and LLMs to move quickly while creating scalable, maintainable products.
As the first GTM Engineer, you will design, build, and ship the workflows and data infrastructure that transform product and market signals into pipeline opportunities. You'll create internal tools and systems that amplify the commercial team's output, with a focus on developer-centric go-to-market motions that respect technical audiences and avoid generic outreach.
Key responsibilities include:
- Converting Convex product usage data into actionable GTM signals by identifying serious deployments and routing intent to appropriate teams or automated workflows
- Building AI agents and human-in-the-loop outbound systems that deliver genuine value without becoming spam
- Creating internal tools that compound commercial team productivity as the company scales
- Auditing the existing GTM stack, identifying gaps, and deciding when to build custom solutions versus leveraging point-and-click tools
- Performing data cleanup and infrastructure work to ensure system reliability
- Writing production code on Convex itself, dogfooding the platform
- Measuring results and optimizing based on what works
You should have several years building revenue operations, sales operations, growth engineering, or similar systems. Technical proficiency with APIs, SQL, scripting languages, or TypeScript is essential. Hands-on experience with modern GTM stacks and practical AI implementation is expected. You understand systems thinking—designing for scale, failure modes, and concurrency rather than leaving technical debt. Experience with developer-led or technical sales motions is a plus. The role is based in San Francisco with an emphasis on in-person collaboration, though remote arrangements may be possible for experienced candidates.
