Wonderful is seeking a Group Deployment Lead to lead enterprise AI deployment teams across Germany and Austria. Reporting directly to the Field CTO, you will manage 10–14 Deployment Strategists and Forward Deployed Engineers across 2–3 pods, overseeing 3–6 concurrent enterprise deployments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own deployment outcomes: Drive speed to production, deployment quality, and customer value across your pods, supporting expansion and renewal opportunities.
- Resolve critical challenges: Serve as the first senior escalation point, challenge deployment plans, and make scope, sequencing, and resource decisions with customers and teams.
- Stay ahead of risk: Identify struggling deployments early, remove blockers, and keep delivery moving.
- Lead and develop your people: Manage performance, coach Deployment Strategists and Forward Deployed Engineers, lead hiring for your group, and support onboarding and career development. Work with craft leads on hiring standards, promotions, and career paths.
- Scale what works: Share knowledge across pods, encourage reusable solutions, and turn recurring customer needs into evidence-based product feedback.
- Shape new deployments: Partner with sales to qualify opportunities and define realistic scope, delivery plans, and resource requirements.
You will work on cutting-edge agentic AI systems, delivering production solutions for major enterprises. The role includes a mix of home office and regular customer travel (approximately 30–50%). You will have direct access to the regional Field CTO and the opportunity to help build Wonderful's deployment organization across the region.
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience shipping software or deploying solutions inside customer environments as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Deployment Strategist, solutions architect, or similar role.
- Experience leading engineers or strategists, either as a formal manager or credible player-coach.
- Technical judgement to challenge deployment plans, understand trade-offs, and guide teams through difficult delivery decisions.
- Credibility with senior enterprise stakeholders, including CIOs and department heads, particularly under delivery pressure.
- Strong sense of ownership and ability to make decisions with incomplete information, build structure, and adapt as priorities change.
- German language proficiency at C1 level or above; fluent English; willingness to travel regularly to customer sites.
- Plus: Experience scaling a deployment organization beyond 20 people or deploying LLM-based systems into production.
- Plus: Background in start-up/scale-up environments and/or Gen AI experience.
