Impulse is seeking a Ground Software Engineer to design and implement mission control systems and ground software for space vehicle operations. In this role, you will develop high-performance user interfaces, real-time data acquisition and visualization systems, and operational automation tools that enable reliable and efficient spacecraft missions. You will work across the full software stack—from backend services and databases to responsive frontend UIs—supporting activities ranging from near-Earth payload deliveries to geostationary orbit operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, integrate, test, and deliver large-scale ground software systems, including operator GUIs and automation tools
- Develop software tools for operational automation to reduce day-to-day operator workload
- Support design and operation of the ground segment, including command and control, mission planning, and mission data processing
- Develop continuous integration and testing systems to confidently deploy new software
- Support end-to-end spacecraft testing to prepare hardware for flight
- Implement mission data processing applications into existing systems
- Manage mission databases and data distribution
- Integrate and test ground software with satellite, ground stations, and network infrastructure
- Implement real-time data acquisition, processing, and visualization systems for satellite telemetry
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of experience with spacecraft, ground station, or communication system operations
- 2+ years of software development experience encompassing both backend and frontend development, plus database management
- Demonstrated experience with Python for backend services, scripting, and data processing
- Experience with modern web frameworks such as Vue.js or React for building responsive UIs
- Experience with networking protocols (UDP, TCP, etc.)
