FlixBus is seeking a Government Affairs & Strategic Partnerships Lead to drive market expansion across the United States. This role is critical to securing access to transportation infrastructure, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring operational success in a highly regulated environment.
You will lead the company's government relations strategy, developing partnerships with public agencies, municipal councils, and regulatory bodies to support business growth. Key responsibilities include securing high-impact locations for bus stops and stations through government relationships and private-sector negotiation, leading region strategy to align commercial objectives with government policies, and representing the company in discussions with transportation authorities.
You will own site acquisition processes, ensuring compliance with zoning, permitting, and safety standards across jurisdictions. You'll develop partnerships with transit agencies, property owners, and businesses to enhance station access and amenities. Additionally, you'll serve as the primary contact for station-related and government relations matters, advocating for the company in infrastructure planning forums and preparing materials for hearings and public consultations.
The role includes managing up to two direct reports and requires up to 30% business travel. You'll lead strategy and execution of state and federal affairs initiatives.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Communications, or related field, plus 7+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or real estate development with government entities. You need 2+ years of project management experience with knowledge of transportation regulations and public transit systems, and 1+ years of people management experience or leading cross-functional teams. Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and policy analysis skills are essential, along with excellent writing and communication abilities. Familiarity with real estate transactions, land-use planning, and infrastructure development is required. Experience with RFPs and grant writing is a plus.
