FlixBus is seeking a Government Affairs & Strategic Partnerships Lead to drive market expansion by securing access to critical transportation infrastructure and managing relationships with key stakeholders in a highly regulated environment.
In this role, you will lead the company's government relations and site acquisition strategy across the United States. You will secure high-impact locations for bus stops and stations by leveraging government relationships and negotiation skills with both public agencies and private entities. Your responsibilities include building and maintaining strategic relationships with government agencies, municipal councils, and regulatory bodies to support business growth.
You will lead regional strategy by aligning commercial objectives with government policies, identifying opportunities, and mitigating regulatory risks. You'll represent FlixBus in discussions with transportation authorities, prepare materials for hearings and public consultations, and serve as the primary contact for station-related and government relations matters. Your work will involve site acquisition with compliance oversight across zoning, permitting, and safety standards in multiple jurisdictions.
Additionally, you will develop partnerships with businesses, transit agencies, and property owners to enhance station access and amenities. You may manage up to two direct reports depending on organizational needs. The role requires up to 30% business travel.
You bring 7+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or real estate development, including demonstrated work with government entities. You have 2+ years of project management experience with strong knowledge of transportation regulations and public transit systems, plus 1+ years of people management or cross-functional team leadership experience. You excel at negotiation, stakeholder management, and policy analysis. Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills are essential, along with familiarity with real estate transactions, land-use planning, and infrastructure development.
