Salary: USD 120,000 - 140,000 / annual
FlixBus is seeking a Government Affairs & Strategic Partnerships Lead to drive market expansion in the US by securing access to critical transportation infrastructure and managing relationships with government and private stakeholders. This role combines business development, regulatory navigation, and real estate strategy in a highly regulated industry.
You will lead efforts to secure high-impact locations for bus stops and stations by leveraging government relationships and negotiation skills. Key responsibilities include building and maintaining strategic relationships with government agencies, municipal councils, and regulatory bodies; developing region strategy aligned with commercial objectives while mitigating regulatory risks; representing the company in discussions with transportation authorities and media; and preparing materials for hearings and public consultations.
Additionally, you will lead site acquisition ensuring compliance with zoning, permitting, and safety standards across jurisdictions; develop partnerships with businesses, transit agencies, and property owners to enhance station access; and serve as the primary contact for station-related and government relations matters, advocating for the company in infrastructure planning forums.
The role includes managing up to two direct reports as organizational needs evolve, with up to 30% business travel required. You will own business strategy and secure agreements with government agencies and private stakeholders to support growth.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Communications, or related field; 7+ years in business development, strategic partnerships, or real estate development with government entity experience; demonstrated success securing agreements with government agencies or private stakeholders; 2+ years project management with knowledge of transportation regulations and public transit systems; 1+ years people management or cross-functional team leadership experience; strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and policy analysis skills; excellent writing, communication, and presentation abilities; familiarity with real estate transactions, land-use planning, and infrastructure development. RFP and grant writing experience is a plus.
