Salary: USD 120,000 - 140,000 / annual
FlixBus is seeking a Government Affairs & Strategic Partnerships Lead to drive market expansion by securing access to critical transportation infrastructure and managing relationships with key stakeholders in a highly regulated environment.
In this role, you will lead the company's government relations and strategic partnerships strategy across the United States. You will secure high-impact locations for bus stops and stations by leveraging government relationships and private-sector negotiation skills. You'll build and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, municipal councils, and regulatory bodies to support business growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading region strategy and aligning commercial objectives with government policies by identifying opportunities and mitigating regulatory risks
- Representing the company in discussions with transportation authorities and media, preparing materials for hearings and public consultations
- Leading site acquisition efforts, ensuring compliance with zoning, permitting, and safety standards across jurisdictions
- Developing partnerships with businesses, transit agencies, and property owners to enhance station access and amenities
- Serving as the primary contact for station-related and government relations matters, advocating for the company in infrastructure planning forums
- Managing up to two direct reports and leading cross-functional teams
- Leading strategy and execution of state and federal affairs initiatives
- Up to 30% business travel as needed
You should have a bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Communications, or a related field, with 7+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or real estate development, including work with government entities. You'll need 2+ years of project management experience with strong knowledge of transportation regulations and public transit systems, plus 1+ years of people management experience or experience leading cross-functional teams.
Required skills include negotiation, stakeholder management, policy analysis, excellent writing and communication abilities, and experience presenting to senior officials and business leaders. Familiarity with real estate transactions, land-use planning, and infrastructure development is important. Experience with RFPs and grant writing is a plus.
