FlixBus is seeking a Government Affairs & Infrastructure Manager to lead market expansion by securing access to critical transportation infrastructure and managing relationships with key stakeholders in a highly regulated environment. This role combines business development, government relations, and real estate strategy to establish FlixBus operations across the country.
You will be responsible for securing high-impact locations for bus stops and stations by leveraging government relationships and negotiation skills with both public agencies and private entities. You'll build and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, municipal councils, and regulatory bodies to support business growth. A key part of the role involves leading regional strategy, aligning commercial objectives with government policies, identifying opportunities, and mitigating regulatory risks.
You will represent FlixBus in discussions with transportation authorities, prepare materials for hearings and public consultations, and serve as the primary contact for station-related and government relations matters. You'll lead site acquisition efforts, ensuring compliance with zoning, permitting, and safety standards across jurisdictions, and develop partnerships with businesses, transit agencies, and property owners to enhance station access and amenities.
The role includes managing up to two direct reports, with responsibilities evolving based on organizational needs. You'll travel up to 30% as needed to support business development and stakeholder engagement across regions.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Communications, or related field, plus 7+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or real estate development with government entities. You need 2+ years of project management experience with knowledge of transportation regulations and public transit systems, plus 1+ years of people management experience or leading cross-functional teams. Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, policy analysis, writing, and communication skills are essential. Familiarity with real estate transactions, land-use planning, and infrastructure development is expected. Experience with RFPs and grant writing is a plus.
