Thunes is a global payments infrastructure company operating a Direct Global Network that enables real-time payments across 130+ countries and 80+ currencies. The network connects to over 7 billion mobile wallets and bank accounts, plus 15 billion cards via 320+ payment methods (GCash, M-Pesa, Airtel, MTN, Orange, JazzCash, AliPay, WeChat Pay, etc.). Clients include Uber, Deliveroo, Grab, WeChat, and major financial institutions.
The Engineering team, based in Europe, is responsible for developing core business products and the infrastructure that powers them. The team handles millions of transactions monthly, interconnects hundreds of partners globally, and owns provisioning, configuration, CI/CD, monitoring, SLA, and performance optimization.
As a Senior Software Engineer (Go), you will work on highly available, API-driven services that process real-time payments at scale. You'll participate in designing, implementing, and shipping new products to internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain highly available services exposed primarily via APIs
- Participate in design, implementation, and delivery of new products
- Write high-quality, testable, secure, readable, scalable, and documented software
- Apply and champion agile methodology principles (code reviews, sprint planning, pair programming, daily standups)
- Evaluate new technologies and initiatives
- Own your code end-to-end: write, test, and deploy multiple times daily
Required qualifications:
- Proficiency in Go/Golang
- Experience with event-driven architecture and message brokers (AWS SNS/SQS, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Strong background in designing and developing web and API solutions
- Passion for agile practices (TDD, CI/CD)
- Interest in fintech and market innovations
- Degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred
