Thunes is a global payments infrastructure company operating a Direct Global Network that enables real-time payments across 130+ countries and 80+ currencies. The network connects to over 7 billion mobile wallets and bank accounts, plus 15 billion cards via 320+ payment methods (GCash, M-Pesa, Airtel, MTN, Orange, JazzCash, Easypaisa, AliPay, WeChat Pay, etc.). Thunes serves major clients including Uber, Deliveroo, Grab, WeChat, and numerous fintechs, PSPs, and banks.
The Engineering team is responsible for developing core business products and delivering them to production efficiently. The team architects solutions around provisioning, configuration, CI/CD, monitoring, SLA, performance, and uptime—processing millions of transactions monthly while interconnecting hundreds of global partners.
As a Senior Software Engineer (Go), you will work on highly available, API-exposed services that power the platform. Responsibilities include:
• Design, implement, and ship new products to internal and external stakeholders
• Develop high-quality, testable, secure, readable, scalable, and documented software
• Work on core platform services ensuring scalability and performance
• Deliver new functionalities and automate development processes
• Participate in agile practices: code reviews, sprint planning, pair programming, daily stand-ups
• Evaluate new technologies and initiatives
Required qualifications:
• Proficiency in Go (Golang)
• Experience with event-driven architecture and message brokers (AWS SNS/SQS, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Strong background designing and developing web and API solutions
• Passion for agile methodology and practices (TDD, CI/CD)
• Degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred
• Curiosity, motivation, and appetite for learning
• Interest in fintech industry and market innovations
