Tomorrow.io is a weather intelligence and climate resilience platform building a weather observation satellite constellation. The company combines proprietary satellite technology, advanced AI forecasting models, and actionable analytics to deliver hyper-local weather insights globally. As a GNSS Payload Engineer, you will support the development, integration, verification, and on-orbit performance of GNSS payloads for the constellation. You'll work at the intersection of GNSS, RF systems, spacecraft engineering, and atmospheric science, translating mission and scientific objectives into instrument requirements and supporting payload performance analysis throughout the lifecycle. Key responsibilities include: - Supporting GNSS payload development, integration, verification, and on-orbit performance assessment - Translating mission and scientific data needs into payload requirements, interfaces, performance budgets, and verification plans - Conducting GNSS and RF performance analyses (link budgets, receiver sensitivity, C/N0, signal quality, interference, timing) - Supporting design, characterization, and validation of GNSS receivers, RF front ends, antennas, timing references, and signal-processing interfaces - Evaluating payload performance drivers including antenna gain/patterns, multipath, EMI/EMC, oscillator stability, thermal drift, and spacecraft pointing - Demonstrating understanding of space environment effects on RF electronics, oscillators, and receiver performance - Working across payload, spacecraft, software, systems, and science teams to identify and resolve technical risks - Establishing and maintaining clear technical requirements, interfaces, verification documentation, and engineering analyses - Supporting payload activities from design through launch, commissioning, and on-orbit operations You bring 4-7+ years of hands-on engineering experience developing, integrating, testing, or operating GNSS, RF receiver, satellite payload, or comparable signal-measurement systems. Strong fundamentals in GNSS signals and receiver operation are essential, along with experience with GNSS receivers, RF front ends, antennas, timing references, or oscillators. You have working knowledge of RF and GNSS performance characterization, calibration, and validation, and understand measurement-error sources such as multipath, interference, oscillator stability, and thermal effects. Experience with RF signal simulators, hardware-in-the-loop testing, environmental testing, or payload test data analysis is highly valuable. You're familiar with environmental qualification concepts for spacecraft and aerospace systems, and understand spacecraft-level considerations including EMI/EMC, antenna placement, pointing, thermal environments, and radiation. You can translate technical and mission-performance goals into clear requirements and verification plans, collaborate effectively across disciplines, and take a proactive, accountable approach to engineering work with sound judgment and willingness to grow.
