Anduril Industries is seeking a GNC (Guidance, Navigation & Control) Engineer to join its Space team, which develops AI-powered satellite systems and command-and-control capabilities for U.S. military and allied partners. The Space team is building fully integrated hardware and software systems, including Lattice for Space Missions and modular payloads, to address emerging threats in space domain awareness, space control, and military operations.
In this role, you will design and develop all aspects of satellite GNC subsystems, including hardware sensors and actuators, orbit mechanics, navigation algorithms, flight software implementation, subsystem integration and test (I&T), and vehicle-level I&T. You will collaborate closely with Systems, Flight Software, Mission Operations, and Ground Software teams to deliver spacecraft across multiple orbital regimes (LEO, MEO, GEO, Reentry, RPOD).
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop spacecraft GNC software and hardware subsystems for various spacecraft efforts, working with bus providers for successful implementation
- Design modern, software-defined approaches to autonomous spacecraft operations with maneuvering capabilities
- Develop test plans and procedures to validate GNC systems during ground checkout, on-orbit commissioning, and operations
- Collaborate across teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality
- Coordinate with end-users, operators, and customers to translate needs into features
- Support challenging schedules during ground testing, launch windows, and on-orbit operations
- Design flight software, algorithms, and simulation products
- Develop spacecraft autonomy tools for dynamic space operations
- Define automated fault detection and response mechanisms
- Provide hardware-in-the-loop and Monte Carlo simulation capabilities
Required qualifications include a strong engineering background (Aerospace, Dynamics & Controls, Computer Science, or related field), proficiency with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C++, Go, and/or Linux systems, experience with orbital mechanics and resident space object tracking, familiarity with rendezvous proximity operations and docking, and strong knowledge of spacecraft dynamics and control theory. You must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include experience testing propulsion subsystems in laboratory environments, conducting spacecraft operations and satellite command and control, and testing/validation using FlatSats, Hardware-in-the-Loop testbeds, and digital spacecraft simulators.
