The Exploration Company is seeking a GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) Engineer to contribute to the design, testing, verification, and validation of spacecraft GNC subsystems. This role spans the full GNC lifecycle: conceptual design, requirements development, algorithm development, software implementation, testing, operations, and post-flight analysis.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing AOCS/GNC subsystems for diverse spacecraft and space missions (LEO operations, reentry, rendezvous and docking); developing, synthesizing, testing, and validating GNC algorithms; implementing GNC code into flight software; developing high-fidelity 6-DOF models and simulations; performing design optimization and dispersion analysis; conducting multi-disciplinary spacecraft systems trades; specifying and modeling AOCS/GNC hardware; developing software automation tools for design, analysis, testing, and reporting; and validating/verifying GNC software through unit testing, Monte Carlo analysis, and SIL/HIL testing.
Ideal candidates hold an MSc in Aerospace or related engineering discipline (PhD advantageous) with strong understanding of classical dynamics, orbital mechanics, flight mechanics, control theory, and estimation techniques. Required skills include flight physics simulation experience and software development proficiency in C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink. Fluency in English is required; German or French is a plus. The role demands high motivation for fast-paced, autonomous, startup-like environments within the commercial space sector.
