Modal is building a new infrastructure layer for AI—a serverless cloud platform for AI, data, and compute-intensive applications. The company recently raised $355M in Series C funding at a $4.65B valuation and has crossed $300M+ ARR. Customers include Ramp, Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno.
You will own the global workplace experience across all Modal offices, managing the Workplace Experience team and setting the tone for day-to-day operations, programs, and physical environments. You'll develop a deep understanding of what each office needs and build trusted relationships with local leads and cross-functional partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and developing a team of workplace services professionals, setting direction and coaching performance
- Owning operational quality across every office by tracking service levels, space utilization, and fixing recurring problems
- Keeping a pulse on local realities and company-wide priorities to stay ahead of business needs
- Building the global budget and vendor strategy for workplace experience, holding contractors accountable
- Guiding workplace experience through major transitions (new office openings, relocations)
- Shaping how Modal's brand and culture show up physically in spaces
- Synthesizing data, stakeholder input, and business context into recommendations for continuous improvement
You care as much about how a space feels as how it functions, and bring the same taste and judgment to offices that Modal brings to its product.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years in workplace, facilities, or office operations, ideally at a high-growth tech company where you built programs rather than inherited them
- 2+ years of people management, including leading team members through office moves or openings
- Experience overseeing workplace operations across multiple offices, ideally in more than one country
- Strong taste and judgment—an instinct for what looks and feels like Modal
- Clear willingness to take a hands-on approach and dive into details
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional partners and translate company strategy into effective local execution
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced workplace with rapidly changing priorities
- Excited to be in an in-office role, collaborating with team members in person
- Willing and able to travel to Modal offices globally
