MariaDB, a leading open-source database company used by 75% of the Fortune 500, is seeking a Global Tax Manager to own coordination of global tax compliance and support statutory reporting integrity across multiple jurisdictions.
You will serve as the primary internal point of contact for external tax advisors and manage the global tax compliance calendar, including corporate income tax returns, sales and use tax, VAT/GST, and other indirect tax filings. Key responsibilities include gathering and delivering supporting data to external preparers, reviewing draft returns for reasonableness before sign-off, monitoring registration and nexus questions as the business expands, tracking tax payments and refunds, and coordinating responses to tax authority inquiries. You will maintain audit-ready documentation and support files.
You will also review statutory books for foreign subsidiaries, including month-end close activity and book-specific journal entries. This includes reviewing and supporting transfer pricing entries, reconciling differences between statutory and US GAAP reporting, and coordinating with external auditors on statutory audits. You will partner with the accounting team to ensure intercompany balances, entity-level results, and consolidation inputs are accurate and timely.
This is a fully remote role based in the US, offering meaningful autonomy with limited day-to-day supervision. You will work across multiple time zones with remote and international teams.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and active CPA (required)
- 5–8 years total tax and accounting experience
- 3–4 years in public accounting tax practice (Big 4 preferred), plus 2–4 years in industry
- Multi-entity, multinational exposure with prior work on foreign subsidiaries and hands-on familiarity with statutory versus US GAAP differences
- Experience coordinating VAT/GST, corporate income tax, and other filings across multiple jurisdictions (preparation experience welcome but not required; coordination and review experience essential)
- Transfer pricing familiarity: understanding of intercompany agreements, cost-plus and TNMM concepts, and how TP adjustments flow through the books
- NetSuite experience required; NetSuite Multi-Book Accounting strongly preferred
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong working proficiency with AI tools (Claude, Gemini) demonstrated in professional settings—summarizing deliverables, drafting documentation, researching jurisdictional requirements, building workflows
- Strong project management and deadline discipline
- Comfortable working with remote and international teams across time zones
- Clear written communication, especially translating technical tax and statutory issues for non-specialists
- Self-directed with ability to work autonomously
PREFERRED:
- Experience at a SaaS, software, or database company
- Exposure to a public company control environment
- Experience supporting jurisdictional expansion or entity rationalization
