Salary: USD 100,000 - 145,000 / annual
Bedrock Ocean Exploration is hiring its first Global Logistics Specialist to own the worldwide movement of the company's equipment and operations. The role is based in Richmond, CA, where Bedrock's primary facility serves as the hub for shipping Ops Kits (autonomous vehicles, sensors, batteries, spares, and tooling) to job sites globally, primarily across the US, UK, and EU today with expansion planned.
This is a builder role where you will own end-to-end logistics operations and construct systems that don't yet exist. You will manage the global movement of equipment including planning and executing shipments to job sites anywhere Bedrock operates, maintaining real-time visibility of every kit and case, and building in lead time, contingency, and backup plans. You'll solve complex shipping problems such as urgent parts delivery across the world, resolving border holds during tight survey windows, and establishing shipping routes into new countries.
International shipping, customs, and compliance are core responsibilities. You will own all international shipping documentation (carnets, commercial invoices, HS classification), evaluate and negotiate with freight forwarders and carriers, and manage carrier performance. You'll be Bedrock's authority on import/export rules across operating jurisdictions, navigate ITAR and export-controlled shipments correctly, and own dangerous goods shipping including lithium batteries with proper certifications and documentation.
You will also own all shipping and receiving operations from the Richmond facility, ensuring equipment is packed to arrive in perfect condition, inspecting and routing incoming shipments, and maintaining an organized, labeled workspace. As the function scales with company growth, you'll design tracking systems, build customs and documentation playbooks by country, establish dangerous goods and export-control procedures, and create carrier scorecards and lead-time standards.
Success means equipment arrives on time and intact every time, customs becomes a solved problem rather than recurring emergency, dangerous goods move safely and on schedule, new country shipping becomes routine, and visibility is automatic—nobody has to ask where a shipment is.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3–5+ years of hands-on logistics, shipping/receiving, or supply chain work
- International shipping experience including ATA carnets and customs clearance
- Working knowledge of international import/export rules and regulations
- Dangerous goods shipping experience; lithium battery experience strongly preferred
- Experience with ITAR and export-controlled shipments
- Established relationships with major international carriers and freight forwarders
- Ability to work on-site in Richmond, CA
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance if required
- Able and willing to travel up to 15% of the time, including internationally
- Valid passport and ability to obtain visas
Nice to have: Dangerous Goods Shipping Certificate, ITAR Certification, experience supporting hardware/robotics/field equipment logistics, experience building or improving a logistics function at an early-stage company.
