TRM Labs is an AI-powered intelligence platform helping public and private sector agencies investigate and disrupt crime, trace illicit activity, and recover stolen assets. As a Global Investigator on the triage team, you will be the first line of operational response in a fast-moving crypto disruption pipeline. Key Responsibilities: - Process inbound victim complaints and validate AI investigation tooling output, routing cases into investigative workflows that lead to frozen scam proceeds, takedowns, and asset recovery - Make disposition decisions that determine whether complaints become freezes, escalations, recovery handoffs, victim notifications, or closes - Validate and route hundreds of complaint dispositions weekly, feeding a live asset-recovery pipeline that freezes stolen funds before they move - Use AI as a co-pilot to catch critical errors such as false positives, merged syndicates, and misclassified scam patterns before they propagate downstream - Enrich complaint selectors with commercial data-source integrations and on-chain/off-chain checks to determine actionability - Own clean shift handoffs for the around-the-clock operation, keeping the US-hours queue moving for the triage team - Provide structured feedback to engineering on AI triage model gaps to improve precision weekly - Work independently during hours when the rest of the team is offline, with clear written handoffs - Participate in formal on-call rotation for high-priority events (weekly rotation with occasional weekend coverage, remote standby) Expected Impact: - Within 30 days: clearing live complaint surges end-to-end, turning raw victim reports into actionable freezes and escalations the same day they arrive - Within 90 days: prioritization calls routinely accepted by Global Investigators, measurably shortening time between report landing and funds being frozen - Weekly: feedback to engineering sharpens the AI triage model so the team catches more recoverable cases with less manual review Team Context: The triage team pairs seasoned crypto tracers with rising investigators. You will sit alongside experienced Global Investigators and intelligence-trained individual contributors in a seat built to accelerate development toward deeper tracing work. The work is operationally hard: high volume, real victims, and time-sensitive calls where fast, accurate disposition can mean the difference between funds frozen and funds gone. Work Environment: Primary coverage during US business hours in your local time zone. Standard North American EST business hours preferred with overlap for daily handover to and from other regions. Distributed, async-first operation with clear written updates and tight coordination on time-sensitive items. Minimal travel; occasional team or mission offsites. No routine onsite requirement. Company Context: TRM Labs is a Series C company with $220M in total funding, backed by Goldman Sachs, Bessemer, Y Combinator, Thoma Bravo, and others. Headquartered in San Francisco with distributed-first operations and hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Washington D.C., London, and Singapore. The company operates at high velocity with a mission-driven culture focused on building a safer world. Requirements: - 1-3 years of investigative or analytical experience in private or public sector - Strong AI fluency: comfort using AI tools daily as a co-pilot for high-volume queue work, with judgment to recognize when output is wrong - Baseline crypto knowledge and ability to recognize threat types such as investment scams, pig-butchering, and ransomware - Ability to prioritize and work independently with clear written handoffs during hours when the rest of the team is offline - Receptive to feedback from experienced tracers and engineers; motivated to improve the triage process rather than only clear tickets - US Citizenship required - Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance
