OpenAI is seeking a Global Head of Events to lead its large, established global events and production team. Reporting to the executive team, you will set the strategic direction for OpenAI's event portfolio, define investment priorities, and lead a team responsible for flagship conferences, product launch experiences, developer gatherings, executive programs, regional events, and the company's presence at key industry moments. Your scope spans strategy, team leadership, budgets, agency relationships, and in-house production for town halls, webinars, and film projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting OpenAI's global events strategy and allocating investment to high-impact experiences
- Partnering with executives on event priorities, programming, and participation in key moments
- Creating flagship gatherings and original event formats that bring products, ideas, and communities together
- Collaborating across Brand, Creative, Product, Research, and Communications to design cohesive attendee experiences
- Leading and developing a global events and production team while supporting regional teams in market adaptation
- Owning budgets, vendor relationships, and complex production logistics in partnership with Finance, Procurement, Legal, and Security
- Overseeing in-house production for town halls, webinars, and film projects
- Partnering with Revenue Marketing, Field Marketing, and developer teams on audience goals and post-event engagement
- Defining success metrics across product understanding, adoption, community, customer relationships, brand, and business results; using feedback and AI to improve future experiences
The role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid work model (3 days in office per week). Occasional travel is required.
Requirements:
- 14+ years of experience in global events, experiential marketing, and large-scale production, including leadership of teams, budgets, and programs across multiple markets
- Track record of creating distinctive flagship experiences and building teams and processes to deliver them consistently
- Strong creative judgment and understanding of how to design experiences for developers, business leaders, customers, partners, and communities
- Experience developing leaders, setting priorities across broad portfolios, and guiding established teams through change
- Experience leading complex live and recorded productions, managing agencies and significant budgets, and partnering with senior stakeholders
- Ability to connect event investment to meaningful outcomes while keeping attendee experience central
- Entrepreneurial approach to ambiguity, curiosity about AI, and firsthand experience using AI to improve your work
