Turnitin seeks a Global Financial Controller to lead a world-class accounting function across all geographies and business verticals. Reporting to the CFO and collaborating closely with the Chief Leadership Team and VP of FP&A, you will own strategic direction and execution of global accounting operations, including financial reporting, tax, treasury, compliance, and internal controls. Key responsibilities include: • Provide strategic leadership to elevate the Global Accounting function into a forward-thinking center of excellence, architecting organizational design and capacity models that support long-term business growth. • Build and mentor high-performing, empowered teams across all core accounting and operational pillars, fostering continuous capability development and agile execution. • Drive end-to-end global accounting strategy spanning statutory reporting, audit, payroll, treasury, compliance, and tax operations across diverse markets and jurisdictions. • Partner with executive leadership to establish robust corporate governance frameworks and deploy industry best practices to streamline global controls and mitigate operational risk. • Champion global compliance strategy, standardizing SOPs, policies, and internal controls to ensure seamless alignment with all global financial regulations. • Oversee external and internal financial audit engagements (including KPMG partnerships) to maintain clean audit outcomes and reporting integrity. • Deliver timely, data-informed financial insights and board-level reporting to support strategic decision-making by finance leadership and the Board. • Innovate and optimize internal control frameworks, leveraging automation and modern finance tools to safeguard organizational assets. • Spearhead M&A integration across regional finance operations, banking networks, and enterprise system architectures. • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that modernize processes, champion agile performance management, and drive a high-engagement culture. • Manage global departmental budgets efficiently, maximizing ROI on finance investments and technology tools. • Serve as a trusted strategic thought partner to the CFO, steering transformational initiatives and enterprise financial strategy. • Evaluate and implement AI tools and emerging technologies to drive operational efficiencies and automation across global finance processes. REQUIREMENTS: Essential: • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership with demonstrated experience cultivating high-performing, agile global teams and navigating US business operations. • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent) paired with CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent professional credential. • Proven track record spearheading finance system modernization, automation, and agile operational workflows to support enterprise growth. • Deep expertise in US/Global GAAP and ASC revenue recognition across multi-jurisdiction environments. • Strong working knowledge of US domestic and international tax accounting principles to drive effective risk mitigation. • Demonstrated capacity to prioritize and deliver high-impact outcomes across complex, multi-threaded priorities under tight timelines. • Ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable business stories for executive leaders and non-technical stakeholders. • Sharp business acumen to partner seamlessly with operational leaders, influencing strategic choices and driving business value. • Ability to connect big-picture strategy with tactical execution, leveraging data insights to navigate change effectively. • Demonstrated success leading, mentoring, and inspiring remote and global distributed finance teams. Desirable: • Deep industry familiarity with technology, SaaS, software, or information services business models.
