Lightspeed is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead and develop a high-performing software development team within their Financial Services division. Reporting to the Director of Financial Services Foundations, you will be responsible for guiding, mentoring, and growing a team of developers solving complex problems in fintech. You'll manage the team directly and indirectly in collaboration with a Technical Lead Staff Engineer, ensuring their professional development through 1-on-1s, performance reviews, continuous feedback, goal-setting, and promotion planning.
Key responsibilities include: leading and motivating developers on complex financial services challenges; working closely with architects, product teams, engineering leaders, and stakeholders to align priorities and roadmaps; identifying and removing blockers and risks to delivery; planning and supporting team member professional development; communicating progress and status regularly to leadership; attracting and recruiting top talent; and providing technical and methodological guidance throughout projects.
You bring proven experience managing developer teams and delivering successful software products. You have hands-on expertise in developing and delivering scalable cloud applications using microservices architecture. You're proficient in Java or TypeScript and experienced with Agile methodologies and continuous delivery practices. Strong written and verbal English communication skills are essential, along with the ability to mentor, coach, and advance individuals and teams. You have a passion for continuous learning and a mindset focused on software quality, scalability, and resilience.
Desirable experience includes payments domain knowledge, SaaS solution design, full-stack web development, cloud services (AWS/GCP), project management or Scrum Master certification, test automation, and DevOps engineering.
