Via Transportation is seeking a General Manager of Launch to lead the operational strategy and execution of new, complex transit services across markets. In this role, you will serve as the leader of transit network transformations, taking full ownership of technology implementation, operational setup, service performance, partner relationships, and a 30+ person frontline team.
Key Responsibilities:
Launch & Service Performance: Own and manage the launch of new Via services from technology implementation through operational setup. Define and manage KPIs spanning on-time performance, rider satisfaction, safety, and cost efficiency. Translate weekly and monthly performance data into actionable decisions.
People Leadership: Lead a 30+ team of field operators and drivers during launch transitions, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and culture setting. Build an operation where people feel accountable, supported, and proud of their work. Hire, develop, and train frontline leaders for long-term operations.
Partner & Stakeholder Management: Own Via's relationship with transit agency partners (public entities with boards, elected officials, and community accountability). Represent Via to community stakeholders, local officials, and riders.
Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement across vehicle operations, maintenance protocols, and service delivery. Identify and execute cost and efficiency improvements that strengthen margins without compromising service quality.
Product Development: Influence the product roadmap for Via's newest product lines.
Note: This role requires willingness to travel up to 50% of the time. You will be setting up Via's newest services in high-visibility markets, building new operational systems from the ground up rather than managing existing ones.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in operations, consulting, strategy, tech, or a field with meaningful client accountability
- Demonstrated ability to lead big projects and develop teams
- Ownership mentality: ability to plan ahead, manage risks, design preventative processes, and own/fix problems
- Leadership instinct and experience motivating individuals from drivers to transit agency CEOs
- Effective at managing multiple tasks simultaneously; strong delegation and prioritization skills
- Attention to detail and operational judgment; comfort with both spreadsheets and field work
- Partner and stakeholder management sophistication for complex, high-stakes relationships
- Mission alignment with public agency partnerships serving communities
- Flexibility and adaptability to rapid change
