Via is transforming transportation globally through technology-enabled transit services. As General Manager of Launch, you will lead the end-to-end launch of new, complex Via services in high-visibility markets. This is a full P&L leadership role combining operational strategy, execution, and people management.
Key Responsibilities:
Launch & Service Performance: Own the complete launch of new Via services, from technology implementation through operational setup. Define and manage KPIs spanning on-time performance, rider satisfaction, safety, and cost efficiency. Translate weekly and monthly performance data into actionable decisions.
People Leadership: Lead a 30+ team of field operators and drivers during launch transition. Hire, coach, and manage performance while building a culture of accountability and pride. Develop and train frontline leaders who will run long-term operations.
Partner & Stakeholder Management: Own Via's relationship with transit agency partners (public entities with boards, elected officials, and community accountability). Represent Via to community stakeholders, local officials, and riders. Navigate complex, high-stakes relationships that are not fully within your control.
Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement across vehicle operations, maintenance protocols, and service delivery. Identify and execute cost and efficiency improvements that strengthen margins without compromising service quality.
Product Development: Influence the product roadmap for Via's newest product lines.
This role requires up to 50% travel and sits at the intersection of operational strategy and execution. You will be setting up systems from the ground up in new markets, not managing existing operations. The decisions you make will shape how these markets run for years.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in operations, consulting, strategy, tech, or a field with meaningful client accountability
- Demonstrated ability to lead large projects and develop teams
- Ownership mentality: ability to plan ahead, manage risks, design preventive processes, and take accountability when issues arise
- Leadership experience: proven ability to motivate and inspire individuals from frontline staff to C-suite executives
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, delegate effectively, and prioritize
- Strong attention to detail and operational judgment; comfort with both spreadsheets and field work
- Sophistication in managing complex, high-stakes stakeholder relationships
- Mission alignment with public transit and community service
- Flexibility and adaptability to rapid change
