The Exploration Company is seeking a Thermal Engineer to lead thermal architecture, sizing, and analysis for future aerospace projects. You will design conceptual and preliminary thermal control systems for new space systems, working closely with mechanical, CAD, and systems engineers to assess feasibility and optimize thermal management across propulsion, avionics, and environmental control subsystems.
Key responsibilities include: designing thermal control systems tailored to project maturity; providing technical solutions to optimize thermal management in collaboration with other subsystems; performing preliminary thermal analyses to justify design decisions; communicating recommendations through analyses, reviews, and technical documentation; supporting spacecraft development from concept through operations including feasibility studies, trade-off analyses, and requirements reviews; managing procurement, RFPs, supplier evaluation, testing and validation of thermal hardware; and providing operational analysis and post-flight support.
You will need a Master's or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, or related field, with 3+ years of proven experience in Active Thermal Control System development and procurement. Hands-on experience with thermal testing (thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, thermal balance tests) is essential. Strong proficiency with thermal analysis software (Thermal Desktop, ESATAN) and programming languages (Python, MATLAB, C++) is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical for conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You should be passionate about advancing sustainability in the space industry and thrive in a fast-paced, autonomous, demanding startup environment. Fluency in English is required.
