Clara is a fast-growing fintech company in Latin America providing payment solutions, corporate cards, bill pay, and financing for over 20,000 businesses. The company is backed by top-tier investors including Kaszek, Monashees, Coatue, and General Catalyst.
You'll be a Forward-Deployed Engineer sitting at the intersection of Product Engineering and Go-To-Market teams, embedded directly with partners and customers to ship integrations rapidly. You'll own the full integration lifecycle from qualification through handoff, acting as the primary technical owner for every integration in your portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end integration delivery: qualification, scoping, build, and handoff
- Conduct Phase 0 assessments mapping systems, data flows, and risk surfaces
- Build and configure integration connectors, data mappings, and partner adapters using Clara's framework
- Serve as primary technical contact coordinating directly with partner teams
- Partner with Platform/API squads to leverage core primitives and identify reuse opportunities
- Ensure integrations meet standards: idempotency, observability, secrets management, data minimization, sandbox testing
- Drive clean handoffs with runbooks, dashboards, on-call assignments, and support playbooks
- Feed learnings back into the platform to identify patterns for shared libraries
Required qualifications:
- 4+ years backend software development with hands-on API integration, webhooks, and data mapping experience
- Deep fluency in integration patterns: REST, event-driven architectures, OAuth/token management, idempotency
- Strong proficiency in Java (or other backend languages) with comfort across multiple tech stacks
- Working knowledge of observability: logs, metrics, tracing, alerting, SLOs
- Experience working directly with external partners/customers in technical capacity
- Ability to move fast in ambiguous environments
- Bilingual: English + Spanish or Portuguese (working proficiency)
- Excellent communication with technical and non-technical audiences
- Exposure to integration platforms (N8N, Zapier, or custom frameworks)
Nice-to-haves: fintech/payments experience, PCI/PII compliance familiarity, AWS/Kafka experience, trilingual capability.
